LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that the Brattleboro Winter Farmers’ Market, as well as all the farms and producers at our market are on the traditional lands of the Abenaki Nation whose careful stewardship fed and nourished it's inhabitants for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans. We pay our respects to them, to the wisdom of their elders and their culture, and acknowledge the hardships they continue to endure.

OUR ROOTS

We opened in 2006 as a project of Post Oil Solutions, a nonprofit grassroots sustainability group in SE Vermont. Since then we have grown from a 2-month to a 5-month market serving the greater Brattleboro area and beyond. At our Winston Prouty Campus location, the market is fully handicap accessible with plenty of on-site and nearby parking, more room for our vendors to display their wares. The beautiful campus also offers great outdoor space for hiking, sledding and just taking in the gorgeous view.

The Brattleboro Winter Farmers Market is the only weekly winter farmers market in Windham County and one of the oldest in Vermont.

OUR MISSION

Our market was founded to celebrate and support local farms, food producers, and artisans working together to strengthen the local economy and build community around year-round access to local food. At our market, you buy directly from the producer—the person who grew, raised, cooked or created it, and can tell you how best to use and enjoy it. Plus, your dollars contribute directly to the local economy and assure the future of a healthy regional food system while supporting local farmers through their lean season.

MORE THAN JUST A MARKET

The market is the warm welcoming place to be on cold Saturdays from November through March. Since 2006, we’ve been the community’s gathering place to get your weekly supplies, enjoy good local music, a bite to eat, and catch up with old friends or make new ones in our café.

LOVE IS IN THE AIR

The market is a labor of love for the community from our vendors and volunteers. And while we can’t promise you’ll get engaged here (like two couples have reported), we can promise you’ll come away feeling the love that goes into all the produce, food, and crafts at the Brattleboro Winter Farmers’ Market
